At BlueRidge Ballroom we recognize the simple
fact that we are a member of many communities: a community of dancers, the
business community, the Asheville community and the world community. We
strongly believe two things. First: We are to be responsible members of
all our communities. Second: Every individual member of each community is
worthy of dignity and respect.
We open our hearts and our arms to all our
communities. Our Friendship and Dance are the greatest gifts we have to
offer. Dance has as many facets as a fine diamond. It is an art form, an
expression of the soul, a way to have fun, a way to meet new friends and to
connect with other people. We almost hate to add that it is also good
exercise. It is difficult to express the connection and all that dance is in
words. It is something that must be experienced to fully understand.
As Dancers we have invested time and money to
get the best training available to us. It has been our great fortune to
have been taught and coached by people who believe as we do. Our coaches
gave us something much more than the services we actually paid for. They
taught us from the heart; giving us a passion and love for dance, and a
heartfelt desire to share that with our own students. They are our models
and we strive to give our students everything we have been given and more.
It is our hope that those we teach will catch the passion and love, the
desire to share and bring that to their own dancing and community.
At BlueRidge we have thought carefully about all
our communities and have made the following commitments:
To our Students and Dance Family:
That they receive the highest standard of dance
instruction in an atmosphere of friendship and family. That we listen to
their personal dance goals and dreams and work with them to develop the
little place in their hearts that brought them to us in the first place.
To our Staff:
That they can work in an ethical and supportive
environment. That they have the opportunity to continue to pursue dance as
an art and find expression in it. Specifically, this means we will pay a
just wage, provide a supportive work environment and ongoing training to
improve their skill in teaching and dance.
To our Business Community:
We offer our word as our bond when we negotiate
business and we will work hard to see that all our business dealings are
handled in a straightforward efficient manner. We will support the local
business community by buying local whenever possible. We will work to
participate in building support networks among local businesses.
To the Asheville Community:
To look for ways that we can share the gift of
dance and friendship with all who come our way and to use our gifts to
benefit the community. Examples would include doing fundraisers for local
non-profit organizations, benefit shows, and opening meeting space up for
their use when it available.
To our World Community:
To be aware of how local day-to-day business
activities can affect the well-being of those we have never met. To
acknowledge that what we buy and use can affect the world economy and
ecological health of the earth and to use that information in making
purchasing decisions. This is one of many factors we will weigh in our
decision-making process. It is a hard fact of life that what is good for one
may be bad for another. We will strive to look at all needs and make the
best decision possible within the limits of our budget, our available time,
the needs of our guests and other factors.
To the Individual:
Every human being is welcome here and will be
treated with respect and honor.
A note on children: We love children and
want the best for them. BlueRidge Ballroom has been created as an adult
environment. It is not child proof and our staff is not able to attend to
the needs of children. We don’t have the space to allow them to run and
play and express themselves as children need to do. Parents who must bring
their children with them must be responsible for their own children at all
times and see that their needs and safety are provided for without
disrupting the services we are here to provide. When older children are
taking classes we also require that a parent or guardian be present during
the class or private lesson. We regard this as a serious safety issue.
Thank you for understanding that these rules are in place because we do care
about the needs of your children and want the best for them.
